Laari Exchange

Pay a foreign merchant with a Maldivian card and your money is converted twice. The card network turns the amount into US dollars, then your bank turns those dollars into rufiyaa. Only the second rate is advertised — and it is not always the rate you get.

Laari works backwards from a charge that already happened. Scan your bank slip, or type in what the merchant charged and what actually left your account, and it shows the rufiyaa-per-dollar rate you were really given, next to the rate the bank publishes.
